South Shore Writer's Support Group
Guiding Principles
Mission and Objectives:The South Shore Writer's Group is open to writers of all abilities, interests and genres. The purpose of this group is to support one another through peer editing, brainstorming, goal setting, resource sharing and networking. We strive to encourage one another to reach our highest potentials.
Meeting Format:
* Meetings will be held every three weeks, alternating Sunday afternoons from 12:00pm-1:30pm,
with Monday evenings from 7:00pm-8:30pm.
* All participants will be given the opportunity, at every meeting, to;
1. share his/her successes.
2. update the group on his/her progress.
3. identify his/her needs of support from the group.
4. set concrete goals for the upcoming weeks.
? Members may attend the first meeting without paying MeetUp fees. All members, before the second meeting, will contribute $3.00 semi-annually to help pay for the MeetUp Web Site fees.
Supportive Behaviors:* Members will all be given the opportunity to share during the meeting, without interruption.
* When offering one's thoughts, with the intention of supporting another member, participants agree to keep their conversation brief so as not to monopolize other member's time.
* Participants agree to acknowledge each person?s unique learning style and approach to success.
* Participants are free to share ideas and suggestions, keeping in mind that there is no "right" way. What works for one person may or may not work for another.
* Participants agree not to share member's work with individuals outside of the group, without the author's permission.
* Participants are encouraged to share their ideas and resources through the MeetUp email, message board, and file posting, and also agree to use these services in a manner that supports the mission and objectives of the group (i.e. no spamming).
